Detectives at Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi have detained a notorious suspect, Consolata Nyangai, for allegedly drugging and stealing from revellers. Consolata, infamous for her involvement in such activities across popular Nairobi nightlife spots, was apprehended following a forensic-led investigation.
The arrest came after a report was filed on November 9, 2024, by a Chadian national who alleged being robbed after a night of revelry at two well-known clubs, Gemini and Quivers. According to the victim, what started as an exciting evening turned into a nightmare when he invited Consolata to his residence at Spring Gardens Apartments for what seemed like a continuation of their fun night out.
He alleged that he became unconscious shortly after arriving home, only to wake up to the reality of being drugged and robbed.
The complainant disclosed that USD 4,000, Ksh 10,000, a Samsung S20, a Corn C105 phone were stolen during the incident. The revelation shocked authorities and revellers alike, with detectives launching an immediate investigation to track down the suspect.
The victim’s story is a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk in social settings, especially when alcohol and unfamiliar company are involved.
After an intensive forensic-led investigation, detectives located Consolata Nyangai in the Hunters area within the Kasarani sub-county. During her arrest, police recovered the stolen phones, which were positively identified by the complainant. However, the investigation didn’t stop there.
The officers also discovered expensive electronics, including a recently purchased 75-inch Samsung TV worth Ksh 107,000 and a Ramtons cooker valued at Ksh 55,000. These items are believed to be proceeds from her alleged criminal activities.
Further probing into Consolata’s background revealed a troubling detail. Detectives found two national ID cards, one Kenyan and one Ugandan, both bearing different names but displaying her photograph. This discovery raises critical questions about her true identity and whether she may be linked to other criminal networks.
The use of multiple identities suggests a more sophisticated operation, further complicating the investigation.
Consolata Nyangai is currently being held at Kilimani Police Station and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 18, 2024. Authorities are expected to present the recovered items as evidence while pushing for further investigations into her alleged activities.
Her arrest marks a significant step in addressing rising crime in Nairobi’s nightlife scene.
This case serves as a stark reminder for revellers to exercise caution while socialising, especially during the festive season,n when such crimes tend to escalate. Here are a few tips to protect yourself:
