You Are A Phoney Advocate, Court Yell’s businessman Nazir Bhadurali Nurmohamed Jinnah, sends him to jail as his lawyer Conrad Maloba fails to attend

A Milimani Court has jailed rogue businessman Nazir Bhadurali Nurmohamed Jinnah for up to eight years after it found him guilty of impersonating an advocate.

The court has also directed that he pay an alternative fine of Sh 250,000 for the said event.

Nurmohamed Jinnah had been charged with impersonating an advocate attached to John Khaminwa’s Khaminwa and Khaminwa Advocates.

He was convicted by Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego, who found him guilty of the five counts.

He was fined for each count to pay Sh 50,000, or 18 months in prison.

” There is enough evidence that the accused person here presented himself to the complainant as an advocate. She said Nasir even started receiving money from the victim when he knew that he was not an advocate,” the court ruled.

Prior his sentencing, the accused person was charged before Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe and pleaded not guilty.

Nurmohamed is accused that between the years 2013 and 2017 in Nairobi County, with intent to defraud Harbas Singh Birdi, he falsely presented himself as an advocate of the High Court as an associate of Khaminwa & Khaminwa Advocates.

The prosecution indicated that Nurmohamed, on August 6, 2014, in Nairobi County, with intent to defraud and without lawful authority, made a letter for sale of property in Nyari addressed to Harbans Singh Birdi, purporting it to be genuine letter written and issued by the firm of Khaminwa & Khaminwa Advocates.

He is further accused that on June 30, 2020, within Nairobi County, with intent to defraud and without lawful authority, he made a statement of account-direct consultant & partner billings for Sunny Birdi Singh, purporting it to be genuine statement made and issued by the firm of Khaminwa & Khaminwa Advocates.

He pleaded for lenient bond terms, stating all witness statements from the prosecution.

Nurmohamed is allegedly linked to be working with Conrad Law and Consultancy as a consultant.

He was released on a bond of Sh100,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 50,000 and had been attending courts from outside.
